Proper work/life balance is becoming harder and harder to maintain. With working from home becoming more and more prominent in the workforce, it can be extremely difficult to figure out how to balance work and life all in one place.
In this blog, we will go through some tips on how to balance both work and life.
Love What You Do
Loving what you do is easier said than done. However, as freelancers you more than likely do enjoy your work.
Loving the work that you do makes you feel fulfilled and less stressed. Making it easy to balance both work and your personal life.
Time Management
Even if you love what you do, working can still run you down. There are a few things you can do to avoid that burn out feeling:
- Take little breaks throughout the day to give your eyes a break from your computer and stretch
- Use a calendar or time management app to help manage your work hours
- Make sure you schedule time during your day to eat and drink lots of water
Work With Compatible Clients
Freelance and client relationships are a two way street which is one of the benefits of freelancing. You get to choose who you work with just as much as the client does.
Remember, an interview goes both ways!
Exercise
It is extremely important to make the time to exercise!
Exercise is a known stress reducer. It is important to move your body at least 3 times a week. Go to the gym, head outside for a walk, or take a yoga class - anything that makes you feel good.
Self-Care
Self-care looks different for everyone. Whatever your form of self-care is, make sure you’re doing it!
- Cook dinner
- Watch your favorite show or movie
- Read a book
- Play with a pet
- Hang out with a friend or family member
- Listen to music or a podcast
Take Time For You
The most important thing is to make time for whatever makes you happy. It’s the only way to keep your stress levels balanced and keep you content.
